a compilation of cool stuff for J Dilla & Nujabes

Happy Birthday to the greatest to ever do it, J Dilla & Nujabes. Today, I just wanted to share a couple cool projects related to these GOATS. If you’re looking for more, go check out our longwinded 50 year retrospect from last year.

The Beach Boys vs J Dilla – Pet Sounds: In the Key of Dee by Bullion is a time crossing piece of music that stylizes the everfamed Pet Sounds into Dilla type beats. The project dropped in the year following Dilla’s passing. Give it a listen above.

Another project I missed mentioning in last year’s retrospective was California’s prolific Pharcyde, who featured Dilla’s production throughout, my favorite track being “Runnin'”. Give it a listen above.

If we’re talking about Dilla’s groupworks, we can’t leave out the fantastic Slum Village, featuring Dilla on the mic. Give “Fantastic Vol. 2.10” a listen by tapping into the link.

Here’s one more lil Dilla gem for you to vibe out to. Shoutout Joey Izzo.

Let’s move over to some Nujabes.

We’ll begin with this Last Song remix. Just some good ol’ vibes, Seba Jun style.

Here’s a live performance of Luv (Sic.) Pt2 from Shing02. This music living on past Nujabes’ lifespan just speaks to the power in these tracks.

Enjoy one last track with Nujabes’ remix of Nas’ “One Love.”

That’s all the time we’ve got for today, but if you’re hungry for some more, tap in below.
